Movement +

I took several wonderful prenatal yoga classes while pregnant, but I most looked forward to the one Izzy taught. She had a calming, authoritative presence that immediately put me at ease and inspired confidence in her instruction throughout the practice. When I found out she was a doula, I could think of no one else I would want by my side during the birth of my child. Hiring Izzy as our doula was the best decision we made as we prepared for our child. We took her prenatal partner yoga and massage course and my husband later said he knew she would be a great doula because she obviously had so much knowledge and communicated it so clearly. Although I took a childbirth course, I learned so much more detailed information from Izzy’s classes and from our individual meetings.

my background as a yoga teacher

I began practicing yoga after a prolonged foot injury forced me to take a break from my professional training as a Contemporary Ballet dancer. Using yoga as an education on emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness, I was able to recover from my injury and pursued my RYT certification through Yoga Oasis under the instruction of Darren Rhodes. I now hold my 500hr RYT and have been teaching since the summer of 2016. I am also certified as a prenatal yoga instructor, RPYT, through the Khalsa Way method and the Prenatal Yoga Center of NYC. My love for the subtle and energetic components of yoga comes from my time studying the yoga classics under Indu Arora, Gurmukh, Vishnu Das, Michael Johnson and Shala Worsley. As a longtime dancer, I also have a strong appreciation for healthy alignment and have done continuing education with Noah Maze, Christina Sell, Darren Rhodes, and Doug Keller. My style as an instructor is rooted in a strong foundation of alignment techniques and is inspired by a passion for movement and self-discovery. Using asana, pranayama, and meditation as an introduction into the practice of yoga, I hope to insight in my students a thirst for deeper inquisition into what the practice has to offer.

Prenatal + postnatal Yoga Series at Yess Yoga

How is a series different than a drop-in class? When you enroll in this yoga series you will be joining a set group of pregnant or postpartum folks that you’ll be practicing alongside each week. We’ll get to know each other through weekly check ins, share the ups and downs of pregnancy + parenthood, move, and breathe together as a group.

Cost is $100 per person for the 8 week series, with scholarships available.

Prenatal yoga can help with sleep, optimize baby’s position for birth, soothe the common physical discomforts associated with pregnancy, and help you feel more connected to your body as you prepare for childbirth (and beyond!).

Postnatal Yoga is about nourishing you, the postpartum parent, while facilitating space to connect and engage with your sweet baby.

Each class will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and movement all specifically designed to prepare the body for a better birth and postpartum experience.
